At Gerhards Canada, we believe that doing business should go hand in hand with doing good. While we’re passionate about sourcing the best speciality beverages for cafés, restaurants, and distributors, we’re equally committed to supporting the communities that support us.
This past May, we had the opportunity to contribute to the Daily Bread Food Bank, an organisation that plays a vital role in the fight against food insecurity in Toronto. With hunger and access to food becoming increasingly urgent issues in recent years, it’s more important than ever to come together, and we’re humbled to play even a small part in that effort.
The Impact of Our Contribution:
From January to March 2025, Daily Bread Food Bank served 903,350 client visits, more than 18 times the capacity of the Rogers Centre. These staggering numbers reflect a growing need for accessible, nutritious food across Toronto and Canada.
In May, Gerhards Canada donated over 56,000 lbs. of milk, juice, and assorted food items, equivalent to:
-
52,188 servings, based on nutritional value
-
9.4 full truckloads of food distributed
-
Access to food for an average of 306,000 monthly visits to 200+ food banks and meal programs
-
A contribution to the 3.1 million lbs. of food distributed by Daily Bread every month
Why We Give
Behind every statistic is a neighbour, a family, a story. We give because we believe everyone deserves dignity, nourishment, and support, especially during times of crisis.
Our partnership with Daily Bread is a reminder of how far a single act of generosity can go when it’s part of a larger mission. This isn’t a one-time gesture; it’s part of our ongoing commitment to making a difference by supporting those working every day to create a more food-secure Toronto.
Thank You
We recognise that our ability to give is only possible because of you, our community of cafés, restaurants, distributors, and suppliers who support our business and values every day.
Every purchase, every order, and every shared belief in doing good enables us to give back in meaningful ways to organisations like Daily Bread Food Bank.
Thank you for helping us help others!
